A PSA ON CHILD maltreatment
What is child maltreatment?
Child maltreatment is defined as "any act or series of acts of commission or omission by a parent or other caregiver... that results in harm, potential for harm, or threat of harm to a child". This can be either abuse, physical, emotional, or sexual, or neglect.
What does it look like?
Maltreated children may have unexplained injuries or negative behavioral changes and shy away from adults. They might admit not liking or not being close with their parent/caregiver. A lack of desire to go home is another sign of maltreatment.
