Types of Abuse Among Adolescents: This type shows which types of abuse more common than the others. The category neglect falls under the definition " Any act or failure to fufill the duties of a parents or caretaker." Keep in mind that these precentages go over a 100%. The reasoning for this is becuase more common than not children suffer more than one type of abuse at a time. Neglect was the #1 most common abuse becuase it falls in with some many other categories.

Abused and Neglected Children (1999-2005): This graph shows the number of confirmed maltreated children in the United States between 1999 and 2005. The graph shows an increase in confirmations cases from 1999 to 2005. There is a significant spike in confirmed cases from 1999-2000 and a significant drop from 2003-2004. This data is most likely composed of estimations because all of the data inputted to create the graph was rounded to the nearest thousand. The average number of confirmed cases in these years is 883,714 children and the average change from year to year is +11,666 children. If this trend continued, it would mean that in 2015, there would have been 1,015,660 confirmed cases of abused and neglected children in the United States.
