A PSA ON CHILD maltreatment
Television Commercial
by Suzannah Kaiser and Jacob Coudret
We chose the script for our ad because it represented how child abuse and neglect goes on every day in seemingly normal households. The questions that our actors asked their parents are what a teenager might normally ask a parent, but what follows the question is the explanation that an abused or neglected child might have for asking the question. Including two teens, one of each gender, shows the span of child abuse across both genders and represents the statistic at the end of the video. The black and white filming shows the hopelessness that abused children feel. An instrumental of “Say Something” by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera adds another emotional dimension with its slow, sad melody. Also, should a person realize what song the instrumental is from, we feel as though the lyrics might represent how a person in an abuse situation might feel. We chose to show a fact and our slogan at the end as a call to action for teens in abuse/neglect situations, in addition to hotline information as a direction to go for help.
Radio Ad
by Caitlyn Aceves and Paige Swope
For our digital media, we decided to produce a radio ad. We wrote a script opening with short story about a child who died recently from suffering child abuse. We then went into statistics and offered different resources on where to get help. We really wanted to make this media emotional as possible so we decided to ad a sad background song to make it as serious as possible. This fits into our campaign as a whole by explaining how bad this problem really is along with if someone were to be suffering where they could get help. The goal of this media was to inform while making a difference.
